How to Install PHP Applications on a Local Server

The objective of this entry is to use it from now on for all the projects that you share, since the process of explaining the set-up of my php applications on a local server just like the explanation of how to upload my PHP projects to a hosting.

Download and installation of applications for the implementation of PHP projects on a local server

The applications to download and install with all the default parameters are the following:

XAMPP easily implements a web server, Git is an advanced file manager with which we will download the applications that I upload to GitHub and Visual Studio Code is a fairly intuitive free code editor and it is the one I work with constantly in all my projects.

Download the project posted on GitHub

GitHub is a portal that is also free to use where you can post the repositories of the applications that are being developed.

My applications will always have a link to the project that I have posted on GitHub for download.

To download, you must open Visual Studio Code, click on File, Open Folder I have go to the following location:

C:\xampp\htdocs

Already located in this folder, in Visual Studio Code click on View and Terminal to open a command console from where we are.

Then in the browser we go to github link where is our application to download. We click on the button Code and copy the link that will be visible when clicked.

Then in the window terminal in Visual Studio Code we write the command git clone and paste the link we just copied and press Enter.

inside the folder htdocs where we currently are in Visual Studio Code a folder will be created with the name of the project to be downloaded.

Then click again on File and Open Folder and this time we enter the folder htdocs and then the new folder with the new name of the application that we just downloaded.

Database import

To carry out the process of importing the database, we must first open XAMPP and activate the services Apache and MySQL If the process has been carried out successfully when accessing the following URL, the database manager will appear phpMyAdmin

http://localhost/phpmyadmin/index.php

In this portal we create the database with the name indicated, I have imported the SQL extension file or pasted the SQL commands in the related post.

Access with username and password to the application

The name of the folder that was downloaded from GitHub it will influence the local server URL that we already have implemented, for example, if the folder is called aplicacion_php the address of the local server already implemented will be the following:

http://localhost/aplicacion_php/

All my projects have the same administrative user and passwords:

  • user: configuroweb, if it's mail hola@configuroweb.com
  • password: 1234abcd..

At this point, it only remains to use the application, any questions remain pending.
